Biography
Shimamoto Tamayuki Shihan was born in Osaka, the son a Zen priest and Aikido instructor. He began Aikido as a child under his father’s guidance and later completed a three‑year live‑in apprenticeship at Aikikai Hombu Dōjō in Tokyo, further deepening his technical and spiritual study of Aikido.
In 20122 Shihan was awarded 7 Dan by Aikido Doshu Ueshiba Moriteru at the annual Aikikai Hombu Dōjō Kagami Biraki Ceremony.
Shihan is the Head priest of Ryukozan Shosenji Temple of the Sōtō Zen tradition and integrates his Aikido training with zazen and temple life in the unique environment of Shosenji’s Dōjō within the temple grounds.
He is also:
· Director of the Osaka Prefecture Aikido Federation
· Former Director of the All Japan Aikido Federation

Recognised for his powerful yet flowing, centred movement and emphasis on sincerity, connection and beauty in practice, he regularly teaches at Shosenji Dōjō and supports the wider Shoryukai network founded by his father, which includes Dōjōs in Europe, Israel and Australia.
